Accommodation

The accommodation we provide is designed to make our service users feel comfortable in their surroundings. We actively encourage service users to decorate their room with their own belongings to promote a sense of familiarity. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and most have en-suite toilet facilities.

Alton House has a large lounge where service users can relax or meet with visitors, we also have a quiet lounge where service users can relax and do some reading if they wish.

During the summer months our service users are often seen gardening or eating their lunch and enjoying the view in our large, landscaped garden.

We arrange frequent day excursions or trips outside the home for our service users as a way of encouraging more social interaction, physical and mental stimulation.

Cuisine & Dining

Our catering staff provide a traditional and varied menu of delicious home-cooked meals using locally sourced ingredients, as well as a variety of traditional treats to be enjoyed with afternoon tea.

All specific dietary requirements and nutritional needs of our service users are catered for. For all special dietary requests the Manager and the catering staff will be at hand to discuss this further.

Activities

At our Alton House, we firmly believe that the body and the mind are very closely linked and that keeping the body active, even for those who are perhaps less mobile than they once were, can also do wonders for their state of mind. As such, we have a dedicated team whose role it is to run a programme of pastimes and various activities to stimulate both the body and the mind.

We like to keep things varied, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. Some examples of our activites include:

  • Live music and dancing
  • Bingo, quizzes, card games, arts & crafts
  • Local day trips
  • Reminiscence Therapy
  • Light aerobic exercise to music
  • Armchair exercises
  • Cooking sessions
  • Visits from local religious figures

We are also able to offer the following additional services:

  • Physiotherapy, Occupation and Speech Therapy
  • Podiatry
  • Aromatherapy & Reflexology
  • Hairdresser
  • Beautician
  • Library Services
  • Outings/Social Activities

    Mrs Browning

"I would like to express my gratitude for all that was done for mum during her stay. We were impressed by the appearance and atmosphere of the home on our first visit and were subsequently very pleased with the choice. The love and care shown to her seemed natural and consistent, even in the face of some difficult behaviour at times. We are very grateful for the care given to her."
